Reflection

My perception about engage, empower and enhance model is the best model to be practise in the teaching and learning process. One of the benefits from this model can elicit the students idea and develops their prior knowledge. Start from first point, engage can elicit the student idea and prior knowledge because the application given is closely related with the daily life activities. The used of data logging in the empower stage can help student to get the better and accurate result in their experiment. They no need to note the reading all the times during the experiment and easily refer to the table or graph. Besides, data logging can save their time. Then, enhance can improve the student understanding by apply some application about the topic. Throughout this model, their understanding can be used to solve the problem in their daily life.


However, any sofware or the applications can have some difficulties in implementing them. There are a few difficulties in implementing this model which is lacking the equipment in the data logging experiment. Some school mainly in rural area lacking in sensor tool and computer itself. Their student also failed to conduct the function of sensor and computer system. Others, the teacher like to used manual teaching instead of use this model. They prefer more for manual teaching because they are too comfortable with that and might think that the student unable to master the skill in this model.
For modelling and stimulation model, both models have unique characteristics in order to help student in learning process. In modelling, the student can adjust the variable given and see and analyse the effect of certain variable toward an experiments. Simulation give the clearly illustration about science concept mainly in topic that need higher imagination to understand. For example, the molecule of water can be iliustred by three dimension image. Using modelling mode will give opportunity for stident to use variety of sample instead of limited sample in manual method.


From my view, the difficulties in student learning is closely related with the lacking of teaching aids. The notes from the teacher is not enough to cover all the understanding. In that case, teaching aids can help student to be more focus on the lessons. Data logging, modeling and simulation can be an alternative method in teaching. Simulation and modeling composed of colourful diagram and animation that attract student most. The variation of colour of the diagram, the attractive animation can improve the student ability to remenber the note. We also can adjust the variable given and free to contral each variable.
In my opinion, there are some problem in integrating those three applications in the classroom. Firstly, the facilities of computer system is not adequate which played major function in run those three applications. The old classroom incompatible to set up the computer system there. Others, some teachers more prefer to used the traditional method of teaching compared to use data logging, simulation and modelling model. The teacher not familiar to use the technology in their teaching.


For my suggestion, we can solve the problem regarding this models by providing the complete computer facilities in every school. The teachers also have to be trained in using those models in the classroom. For the last, the student have to be more active and proactive in explore the data logging, simulation and modelling model.
